Meet Jane Motanug

Future Owner of a Day Care Center

Jane, living in a township north of Cape Town, South Africa, lives in a corrugated tin shack without electricity or running water. She speaks five languages, received “As” in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and Calculus, and is extremely ambitious. She is starting a day-care center for the youngsters in her township, for many are molested when their mothers go to work.

In the empty space in Jane's back yard (upper right picture), Jane will educate, feed, and provide safety for 50 children. Older illiterate children ashamed to go to school with younger children will assist in this center learning responsibility while becoming literate as well.

By starting a day care center, the children will be safe, receive at least one good meal per day, and will be taught to read and write.

These are Jane's Neighbors

Ten people live in this shack with no water, plumbing, electricity, or heat.
 This boy stands in the doorway on the left.
The neighbor who lives here cannot hear or speak.  His 17-year-old brother supports the 6 family members. The mother died a few months ago.
