Carol's Favorite Sayings, Prayers, and Hymns
If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.
When you're arguing with idiots, make sure they're not doing the same thing
The universe will altar reality to fit the your expectations.
The happiest of people don't have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.
The most important things in life aren't things.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.
The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.
Good things come to those who wait, but only the things left behind by those who hustle.
Life is like a piano, what you get out of it depends on how you play it.
I LIVE FOR THOSE WHO LOVE ME,
WHOSE HEARTS ARE KIND AND TRUE...
FOR THE BRIGHT HOPES LEFT BEHIND ME,
AND THE GOOD THAT I CAN DO.It’s how you react to adversity that determines your character.
Each day I’ll do a golden deed,
By helping those who are in need,
My life on earth is but a span,
And so I’ll do the best I can,
Life’s evening sun is sinking low,
A few more days and I must go
To meet the deeds that I have done
Where there will be no setting sunTo be a child of God each day
My light must shine along the way
I’ll sing His praise while ages roll
And strive to help some troubled soulThe only life that will endure
Is one that’s kind and good and pure,
And so for God I’ll take my stand
Each day I’ll lend a helping handI’ll help someone in time of need
And journey on with rapid speed
I’ll help the sick and poor and weak
And words of kindness to them speakWhile going down life’s weary road
I’ll try to lift some traveler’s load
I’ll try to turn the night to day
Make flowers bloom along the way
Everything I
need to know about life, I learned from Noah's Ark...
One: Don't miss
the boat.
Two: Remember that we are all in the same boat.
Three: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark.
Four: Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do
something really big.
Five: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be
done.
Six: Build your future on high ground.
Seven: For safety's sake, travel in pairs.
Eight: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the
cheetahs.
Nine: When you're stressed, float a while.
Ten: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by
professionals.
Eleven: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a
rainbow waiting.
If God brings you to it ‑ He will bring you through it.
Our loss + God = a new beginning.
God gives us gifts through which we can bless others.
We all can be God’s Angels to those in need.
The words we chose can make a difference in someone’s life
Be ready, God will find a way to use you.
I shook my fist at the heavens demanding to
know why something hasn’t been done about all the misery in the world!
I quickly received a soft-spoken reply, “I have done something about all the
misery in the world… I made you!”
Peace Prayer of St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
when there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand,
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Unison Prayer
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
Carol's Favorite Hymn
John Newton was the captain of a slave ship for many years. He dedicated himself to Christ after being saved from a storm on the high seas and afterwards wrote the Hymn Amazing Grace.
Knowing this, the words, ...That sav'd a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.... should have a new and enriched meaning.Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace (How sweet the sound)
That sav'd a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev'd;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ'd!
Thro' many dangers, toils and snare,
I have already come;
'Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall profess, within the vail,
A life of joy and peace.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call'd me here below,
Will be for ever mine.
